For a quick primer on what's happening in Yemen, and America's less than heroic role there, I encourage you to check out this short YouTube review from Terry Phillips.
For a 3 minute review there's enough here for you to start looking deeper into the region.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Terry Pillips' work know that he has a long and distinguished career in journalism. Most recently Terry hosted “Quality of Life” on Valley Public Radio in California’s San Joaquin Valley. If you're a little older, you might remember some of Terry's work as a CBS correspondent in Moscow and Eastern Europe in the 1980s and early 1990s, where he covered the collapse of the Berlin Wall.
If you're from Bakersfield you might recall that Terry ran against Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Bakersfield) in 2012. I discuss some of the local political intrigue during Terry's race here.
In all cases - and in the FYI category - because Terry's work is so accessible and high quality I'll be posting more of his discussions on politics and life in the future.
- Mark
Addendum: Below you'll see the political divisions in Yemen after 2012.
